In addition to more traditional pro bono representation, we have launched a different way for us to contribute to the community.  

 

We call it PRO TE TUESDAY.

It is a play on the familiar term, "pro se," borrowed from Latin and meaning "for oneself."  This phrase applies to situations in which a party is not represented by a lawyer, but rather represents himself or herself.  

We say our program is "Pro Te" because it means "for you;"

"PRO TE TUESDAY," because, well, we offer it on many Tuesdays.  On Pro Te Tuesday, we offer, free of charge, a 45-minute conversation with a lawyer where you can ask any legal questions you may have.  For example, maybe you are pro se, but need some help with court rules and/or procedures; or maybe your employer presented you with a separation agreement but you do not understand all of its terms and you need a little help understanding them.

We want to help you.  We will at least strive to point you in the right direction if we are unable to answer your question(s).  What is discussed during the phone call is for informational purposes only, but will remain completely confidential.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THAT SPENDING PRO TE TIME (or making an appointment for Pro Te Time) WITH SATO LIN LLC DOES NOT CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATE SATO LIN LLC TO REPRESENT YOU AS YOUR ATTORNEYS.  SATO LIN LLC CANNOT SERVE AS YOUR ATTORNEYS IN ANY MATTER UNLESS YOU AND OUR FIRM EXPRESSLY AGREE, IN WRITING, THAT WE WILL SERVE AS YOUR ATTORNEYS.  YOU SHOULD ALSO BE AWARE THAT THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS (the deadline imposed by law by which you must bring a lawsuit) MAY SEVERELY LIMIT THE TIME REMAINING FOR YOU TO FILE ANY POTENTIAL CLAIMS YOU MAY HAVE.
